I’m writing this quick note from our hotel room in Rockford, Illinois (just West of Chicago) before I head to bed for another day of driving. We are now 8 hours into our trip to B.C. and things have gone quite smoothly so far. Anyway, more updates will come later–I’m exhausted.

I’m likely on a plane heading for Cuba as this post is released. I scheduled it on Friday night just as a pre-celebration, since I won’t be able to express my excitement here from the plane :-p. Anyway, I’ve also got a review post of the award-winning documentary Sharkwater coming out in a couple days, [...]

Well, we leave for Cuba tomorrow and I’m all packed and ready to go! I just had to take a picture of my luggage since it so wonderfully reflects my priorities for this trip. The largest bag is dedicated to my scuba equipment, the carry-on is dedicated to my camera equipment, and the medium-sized bag [...]

Well, it’s over. I wrote my last exam of my undergrad today and I am officially in self-creation mode. Other than holding down a part-time job, I am pretty much a free man. So, here I am asking myself “now what?” It has come to that point where my future is pretty much an open [...]

I had my final undergraduate class on Wednesday. It was a weird feeling knowing that I’m about to complete my degree and then move on to something else. One part of me is relieved to be done while the other is a bit sad that it has come to an end. Maybe I’m just afraid [...]

The graduating class for my Social Justice and Peace Studies program has decided to put together a collage of pieces of art from each of the graduating students. We each got a 5″x7″ canvas to do what we please with. These canvases will then be posted on a wall in the shape of a peace [...]

It has been about 4 months since Rita and I got back from our road trip to the East Coast and I have finally gotten around to sorting through and uploading our pictures. After doing a lot of trimming, there are still 392 pictures (not all of them are in the Gallery). Yes, that’s [...]

One of my many life goals is to travel to Antarctica. Every once in a while I peruse the internet to feel a little bit closer to these goals and to dream about the things I hope to do in the future. One company that is making the realization of travel goals easier is G.A.P [...]

One of my life goals is to travel into space. I made that decision during my childhood (actually my initial goal was to go to the moon, but space will do) back when consumer space travel wasn’t even on the radar. It looks like the possibility of my dream coming true just got better as [...]

Author and world traveler, Tim Ferriss, has put together a post and video describing his travel packing technique. Although I try to pack light, my bag never ends up looking like something Tim would carry around. To the left you can see the bag I packed for a 3-day trip in the Salvadorian countryside. Something [...]

Well, I arrived in Toronto last night at 11:35pm and got to London around 3:00am this morning. It was a long day, but I’m glad to be settled now. The trip was amazing in all regards and was very educational, emotional, and has definitely furthered my personal development. So much happened over the 18 days [...]
