Rita and I went to see some fireworks for the May 2-4 weekend tonight. I brought the Nikon along to grab some shots and was satisfied with the results (first time shooting fireworks). Some pointers for next time to make the pictures better would be: i) include other objects in the image–fireworks are nice, but the picture is more interesting when something else–like a building, tree, or person–is in the frame and ii) use a longer shutter speed to get more than just one or two fireworks in the frame.
In case anyone is interested, I used f/8 for the aperture and bulb mode for the shutter (this allows me to tell the shutter when to open and when to close so I can get the full effect of light trails without guesstimating a shutter speed).

Beautiful! I love fireworks!
Awesome. Was it a digital camera or film? Thanks for sharing!
Here well arranged and varied posts appear again and again. I look gladly here past. Many greetings from the center of Germany!
Thanks for the comments. These were all shot with a DSLR.
Beautiful fireworks. Thanks
wonderful pictures
I tried taking photos of fireworks, but it never worked out for me. I’m not sure why, but I think there was just not enough light. I dont have much of a camera, so maybe that was also the case.
Your photos look quite awesome though.
Your photoshots looks so great! I tried also to take some photos everytime I got the chance to see fireworks display but it end up that I’ll just delete it ‘coz it really looks so bad!
By the way, what camera did you use?
wow great pics. i guess the skill is more important than the camera to get quality pictures
Those picutes turned out great. Last year I tried to take pictures of fireworks with my old digital camera and just ended up with colourful blurs. Yours turned out much better.
