Obama-Gore Tag Team in the Works?

obama_gw_gore.jpgA twinkle in my eye was present as I read a recent Treehugger article mentioning Obama’s offer to have Al Gore join his political team to help deal with the environment. This is pretty much the icing on the cake for me and my support for this wonderful candidate. Although I’m Canadian and can’t vote, it is impossible to ignore the unfolding events on the other side of the border.

When asked yesterday if he would “consider tapping Gore for his Cabinet to address global warming,” Obama replied:

“I would. Not only will I, but I will make a commitment that Al Gore will be at the table and play a central part in us figuring out how we solve this problem. He’s somebody I talk to on a regular basis. I’m already consulting with him in terms of these issues, but climate change is real. It is something we have to deal with now, not 10 years from now, not 20 years from now.”

Now I’m not so gullible as to ignore that this is clearly a political move to gain some ground on Clinton in the upcoming primaries, but, even so, this is a great move for Obama and I hope the American people respond positively to it. Considering Gore should have won the 2000 election, the support is obviously there. Clinton just needs to take a seat and let Obama and Democratic party deal with McCain. The anticipation is killing me… November is so far away!!

As if I needed any more reason to vote for Obama. Besides, I voted for Gore anyway. I wonder if Hillary was ever asked the same or similar question? Because I would think mentioning Gore and environmental issues is a very good thing.
