It’s A Small Web, Afterall

webthisway.jpgSince I created my my video on how to clean the dust off a DSLR sensor and uploaded it to YouTube five months ago, it has received nearly 16,000 hits. Anyway, I went to check the comments that have been posted in the past little while and I was amazed at what I saw.

While reading the comments, I came across this:

“hey Patrick. I’m Po, Rita’s cousin from Texas. This is really weird! I came upon your video after typing in “Nikon D70″ in the search box, b/c I’m thinking about getting one. I didn’t realize who you were until half way through the video when I noticed your Canadian accent (the way you said “out”). Man, I thought you looked familiar! I’ve only seen you in pictures. You’re into photography, we have something in common. Well that was very informative and well done. I thought I’d say “hey!”"

Is that insane or what?! I have never met Po; have only seen a couple pictures of him and there he is watching a YouTube video wondering why he recognizes the guy giving this tutorial, lol. If you ask me, that is quite the coincidence. Of the more than half-a-million YouTube viewers, we just happen to meet up this way–It is a small web, afterall.

Hey Patrick, how’s it goin? I just got your link from Rita on Facebook, and I also added you.

Yeah, completely insane! I still can’t believe that. YouTube is so, so big. I’m pretty sure I’d have a better chance at getting struck by lightning. This is an awesome site you got here. I was just looking at your gallery. I love the macro and close-up shots (bugs & floral). You should post your work on deviantart.com. I don’t know if you’ve heard of it, but it’s like a MySpace for artists, photographers, and writers where they can get feedback on their work from other users. Check mine out if you get the chance. I have a few b&w shots printed from film, and the rest are drawings and paintings. Just click on the “gallery” tab when you get there.

I’ve bookmarked your site, so I’ll check back later.

Tell me about it; I’m amazed that this happened, lol. Thanks for the comments on the photos; I am familiar with DeviantArt (I used to get all my computer backgrounds from there), but haven’t thought about posting anything. I’ll have to look into that and I’ll definitely check out your pics.
    Ciao.

Where does this “WWW” stand for? Why do you use it in the USA. Or is it just a joke?

    It’s just a joke… WWW = World Wide Web :)
