I know my site is fairly modest and doesn’t get the most traffic in town but things seem to have been picking up a bit around here and Google is starting to realize it
. It has been at least a few months since I implemented Google Adsense (the google ads on the right of the page) and it was generating so little income that I didn’t even bother to check it anymore. At pennies per click, I wasn’t going anywhere fast. But, I decided to check it out due to a small problem I was having in my sidebar. As it turns out, my balance is now at $13.02! I just may be able to retire early!
Obviously this is no big deal, but it does show that people are clicking around my site. About a minute later I was doing some updates and a little green bar in my “Statistics” section in the left toolbar caught my eye. This little bar represents my Google Page Rank. This is a rank that google gives to sites based on how many visitors and links my site brings in. 0 means you get barely any visits and 10 means you are one of the hottest sites on the net. For the longest time I was stuck at 1, but it looks like Google has bumped me up to a 2. Pretty cool.
Modest gains, but gains nonetheless.

Congrats on your bump. I am about a week old (in blogging terms) and can only assume I am a 0. Everything I have been reading says most people this week lost a notch or two on their PR. If yours went up it must be because you are “doing it the right way!”
aim high brother …
Hi Patrick, I am a newbie blogger and was wondering about putting some ads on my blog? Looks like they don’t help much but could add to the eye appeal of my blog I guess. I don’t think I am even indexed by Google yet. At least Yahoo found me! Fred
