This is probably no surprise to anyone, but Canada is run by a bunch of children. I was reading in the paper today about a discussion in the House (like Congress in the US) over product price differences. As you may know, our graceful loon has overpowered the not-so-tough bald eagle in the marketplace. Yet, for some reason, prices for the same products are still more expensive in Canada. For example, it costs more to buy a Bombardier snow mobile in the town in which it was made (in Canada) than buying it on the other side of the border. What’s up with that? Books are an even better example. A book I recently bought, The Four-Hour Work Week, costs $19.95USD or $24.95CAD. That is a $5 difference! This is during a time when our dollar has been pretty much on par or better than that of the USA. What do our great leaders have to say about this?
Well, when asked by John McCallum (Liberal finance critic) why he decided to hold a meeting with retailers Tuesday to discuss this price issue, Jim Flaherty (Conservative Finance Minister) held up a Harry Potter book as an example of the price disparity. McCallum then asked, “Was it [Flaherty's] idea or did the dark Lord Voldemort (Stephen Harper), sitting on his throne in the PMO (Prime Ministers Office), order his finance underling to do it?” Flaherty responded, “As the member opposite knows, I am, at best, a mere elf.” To this, McCallum accused Flaherty of economic hocus-pocus and suggested Flaherty got an F at finance wizard school.
Oh, what a dirty and childish game politics is. It’s quite funny that these are the distinguished people leading our country. Sure, some comedy is good sometimes to lighten the mood of politics, but aren’t there better things to be doing than acting this way just to make the other side look bad? Politicians spend more time campaigning than actually doing work. I hear the British house is even worse, with Ministers reading acts of Shakespeare just to waste time during their opportunity to talk. But, since no one actually cares about politics or how our country is run, this sort of thing can go on unquestioned. Sorry to be so negative, but it’s true.

Or if one finds the price painful, then maybe the blog of Mr.Tim Ferriss , http://www.timferriss.com should be quite helpful.
Heh. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying the book isn’t worth it
. And yes, his blog has some pretty good posts.
