I don’t think I’m alone here when I say that the traditional slideshow is about as exciting as listening to Aunt Edna talk about her latest knitting project. Ok, that was mean and uncalled for, but I had to get the point across. Even with PowerPoint’s ability to add music and animated slide transitions, getting people to actually sit through a slide show can be daunting. Not only are they bored because it is just one picture after the other, but the traditional slideshow method just doesn’t do your photos justice!
Enter Animoto. This online studio will take your images and give them more spice than baby, posh, and scary put together. All you need to do is upload your pics and some music and Animoto does the rest. The results are great and this automatic compiler will save you hours of manual editing.
Below is a sample video that I created. The pictures are from the May Day protest in El Salvador this past May. The one catch with Animoto is that only 30-second videos are free. If you would like to make a longer video, they cost $3 each or $30 for an unlimited year subscription. But hey, if you like to make slideshows or present your pictures in an interesting way, $3 isn’t all that bad.

Hey cool, that is a pretty neat tool to put together a photo show - especially for the web and such.
That application is a refreshing change from the typical slideshows you see… I can’t tell you how many standard fade-in/fade-out transitions I’ve sat through, or any one of the other less-than-fantastic transitions that most free programs have. Thanks for sharing- nice show you put together, too.
Hey that’s pretty cool. I have slideshows on my real estate site, and they are boring. Haa. I will have to give this a try.
