When Rita and I do dates, we like to put a little “spin” on the typical Dinner and a Movie thing. This is why we went for a nice long rollerblading trip at Springbank park after she made a delicious chicken dinner. We spun our wheels for a couple hours, feeding the geese, and enjoying the sunset. Then we headed downtown for a some Souvlakis, followed by watching Hostel 2 at the theatre.
The movie was “ok,” but not great. The first half was very boring and the second half was just pure slicing and dicing. The main goal of the movie, like many horror movies, was to see how much they could make you squirm. The slitting of throats and what not got to be a little much as I started to think about how desensitizing this stuff is. I mean, beheadings and torture go on everyday and we think nothing of it because we only know it as entertainment rather than painful reality. I won’t go on with this topic, but some more substance would have made the movie much better. The one good thing about this movie was that it did a good job at pointing out the fact that you really don’t know what type of people are deranged in this world–even the most established-looking people can be off their rocker.
Oh, and did I mention we met the Simpsons?
