I am happy to say that my square foot garden is practically complete. Other than adding a mesh wall for my vines to grow up (not necessary, but more efficient), all steps are complete.
On Sunday, a cold and wet day, Rita and I mixed the soil and filled the boxes with it. We called it a day after that task because it was just too darn cold to do anything else. I continued yesterday (Monday) by creating the grid using kite string and a staple gun. Then I planted most of my seeds, and all is well.
I’m quite satisfied with the outcome of the garden(s) and only time will tell if all this work was worth it. Although it took me a few days to put everything together, if I were to have everything ready and planned out before I started, I probably could have finished it in one day. So don’t be intimidated by the number of “parts” this construction consisted of because most of them are very small steps in the process.
