3D Face Recognition

face_recognition.jpgIn a recent press release, Bioscrypt Inc released a new product called the VisionAccess 3D DeskCam, which allows users to secure their computers through 3D face recognition. The DeskCam, which is basically a glorified webcam is able to look for 40,000 identification points on your face to verify authenticity.

It is claimed that this device can also account for facial hair and distinguish between two identical twins. Whoa, I’d like to see that in action. This is a bit of a step up from fingerprint scanners, and I don’t even have one of those! Actually, what average computer user does?

Although I don’t want someone fiddling around with my personal information, I think I’ll leave this technology to the corporate world for now. It’s still cool though!
